Bee My Valentine

These were cookies I made for the boy's class two years ago, I believe.  Aren't they cute?

They're bees.  Made from a heart cutter. How smart is that?  (I can say that because it wasn't my idea.)



Inspired by A Master Creation and put on sticks for the kids.  Because kids like things more if they're on sticks.

Red for the boys...


Pink for the girls...


I also made a giant Queen Bee for the teacher, but I forgot to take a picture.  Go me!

And here are some others that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday the same year.


I love Valentine cookies.  I'm going to get started on this years' soon, but for now, this is all I've got.

    These are adorable! I love that it's a heart cutter...clever clever. I have no luck keeping a cookie on a stick...

      Awww, thanks! I honestly haven't had much trouble with sticks, but I don't use them often. If I have a cookie fall off, I just squirt some RI on the stick and shove it back into the cookie. Works like a charm!

Turtle Birthday Cake

Ha!  Fooled you!  It's not a chocolate and caramel and pecan birthday cake. (Although that would be lovely, in my opinion.)  It's a cake shaped like a turtle!! Because that's what the boy wanted. I was actually quite happy with how it turned out. I got the idea off of Pinterest, of course. The design as a whole is a mash-up of two different cakes that I saw. I wanted to do more on the base cake, but I was literally finishing up the border as we walked out the door. My time management wasn't the best with this one. The square cake is two giant layers of lemon cake, torted, with two layers of home-made lemon curd filling and one layer of buttercream filling. It was gigantic. It stood almost 5 1/2 inches high (not including the turtle on top) and was incredible heavy. I should have weighed it. The turtle is a 6" round cake, vanilla-almond with buttercream filling. Cross Country Cookies

 Hey, long time no blog! Life just keeps on happening, and that's the only excuse I have. The kids are growing up rapidly. The boy is in high school, and the girl is in middle school. Both of them run cross country, so I (finally) got around to making cookies for them. The school logo and some general cross-country themed cookies, along with a saying from their coach. And just so this isn't the world's shortest blog post, here's a picture of my vintage kitchen: It's a weird mix of 40's and 50's, but as I'm working off of Craig's List for my décor, it's the best I can do.  Well, that's all for now.  Enjoy!

Happy Belated Independence Day Cookies!

So we've experienced a busy week.  The power was out for a few days...on the week we decided to play hookey from work...good times.  After the power came back on we took the kids to an amusement park, which was a hugely popular decision.  In the ensuing days we went to an historical farm, grilled out in the back yard, treated Daddy's sunburn, went to a parade, made popcorn and watched Goonies...it's been a fun-filled week. All that excitement meant that I was not anywhere near the computer for most of the week.  Which means I didn't post my 4th of July cookies.  So, without further ado, here they are!
