Spring Fling!

Image
So this past weekend, I went to Spring Fling!  What is a Spring Fling, you ask?  Only the greatest thing ever!  In the fall, some folks were talking on Cookiers R Us  about sometime maybe being able to put together a "cookie camp" where we could all get together and talk cookies. So then Kay and May of Cookie Two Shoes decided to quit talking and do something about it!  They teamed up with Mike and Karen of Karen's Cookies and Spring Fling was the result!  It was a wonderful weekend in Louisville, KY.  There were something like 70 people there, all ready to talk cookies!  The weekend started for me on Friday, when I woke up really early (for me...I work nights) and carpooled with two lovely ladies down to Louisville.  It was a nice drive, about 3 1/2 hours.  (Just and FYI:  Cookie people must be a little crazy.  None of us had ever met, and we took a road trip together :-).  And we were all rooming with complete strangers, too!)  We talked so much that we missed

So I Made an Ugly Cake...

...for Baby Girl's 4th birthday. And then I took crooked pictures of it.  Sorry. Honestly, when it was all said and done, it wasn't that ugly any more.  But it did not come out like I had planned. The story behind the cake was kind of cute, though.  She asked for a unicorn on her cake.  No problem.  I can do a unicorn.  Then I asked her what flavor she wanted her unicorn cake to be.  She looked up at me, tilted her little head to the side and asked, "Can it be grass?"  "So the unicorn will like it?" I inquired.  "Yes," she nodded emphatically.  "No." She took it all rather well, and then when I asked what other flavor she wanted she said cherry.  I was a little taken aback, because I've never made a cherry cake before (I do, however, make a killer black forest cherry cake, but that's not what she meant).  I told her no problem and asked what she wanted her second flavor to be.  She said peach.  Peach.  She didn't e

Simple Easter Cookies

Image
And I mean simple!  But I remembered to take a picture this time.  Another parent from the boy's second grade class texted me this weekend and asked if I could bring cross cookies to school on Thursday for their Easter party.  So, being the pushover I am, I said sure.  Then she said nothing fancy.  So I went with it! (Hey, I didn't say it was a good picture.) Seriously, it took longer to mix the colors than it did to ice 24 cookies.  But it's been a busy week, and it is only going to get busier, so simple is good.  So that's it for today.  More Easter treats coming up soon! Enjoy!
