Whimsical Decorated Christmas Cookies

Image
After my foray into non-traditional colors, I decided to go whimsical for the rest of the cookies this year. Pink, green and white. Not too wild and crazy, just a little different. I'm digging this snowman. Am I allowed to say that about my own cookies?  Because it's true. And finally a plaque cookie I don't hate. Simple but pretty. Well, I'm off to do more decorating! I actually took this past week off of work just to make cookies. I barely even left the house. Not much of a vacation, but I enjoyed myself. Well, that's all for now. Enjoy!

Gingerbread Men in a Forest Decorated Sugar Cookies

Image
You probably think I've finally lost my mind for real based on the title of this post.  But I haven't, I promise! Gingerbread men...in a forest! These are the cookies I made for the boy's Christmas party at school.  Since there are only four students in his class, I can go a little nuts with the cookies. And I've been wanting to try some 3-D cookies, so this was the perfect opportunity! I thought they came out kind of cute. That's all for now. Enjoy!

Non-Traditional Decorated Christmas Cookies

Image
I made a few batches of non-traditional Christmas cookies this year. Well, the shapes were traditional but the colors weren't.   Turquoise, yellow, gray and white. I'm going through a phase where I really like gray and yellow together.  And I ALWAYS love turquoise.  Trees... Snowflakes... And another tray... They were fun, but I'm back to slightly more traditional colors now.   That's all for now. Enjoy!

Reindeer Snowflake Decorated Sugar Cookies

Image
Well, Christmas Cookie season is in full swing here in the D-oh household. The first thing I did was enter a cookie exchange.  Here's a photo of my 9 1/2 dozen gingersnaps. I love gingersnaps. So after that I had to make more gingersnaps, because the cookie exchange used up my whole inventory. Then I made a whole bunch of other cookies.  And while I was making sugar cookies, I cut out some snowflakes using my spiffy new snowflake cutter. But the only thing I could think of while I was making the snowflakes was reindeer, because the snowflake looked like reindeer. See...reindeer.  Some I turned into Rudolph, and some I left generic. The noses are red hots (cinnamon imperials if you want to get technical) and the eyes are black sugar pearls. Super easy. Anyhoo, that's all for today. Enjoy!

Sports Themed Birthday Cakes

Image
A friend asked me to make a cake for some friends of hers.  There are three boys and they celebrate birthdays at the same time.  (And I never thought to ask if they were triplets or something...I'm going to have to ask her now.) So they like sports. Basketball and Football.  And that's all the direction she gave me. She wanted two cakes, one for a family dinner and one for the party. Here's what I came up with. Family Dinner: Party: And that was the day I learned that my son doesn't know ANYTHING about sports. I felt bad. He thinks he would like sports if he could watch them, but we don't watch them. Mostly because we don't have cable. I need to get the boy to my brother's house, to watch some football, pronto. (He asked me what a quarterback was. I didn't realize it was as bad as that.) Anyhoo. That's all for now. Enjoy!
